According to sources, Sanjit Das’s family is financially prosperous and they have their own house in the Ghatikia area. But Sanjit himself was always intoxicated without earning anything. His wife, Saraswati Das, worked as a nurse. They both have a 7-year-old daughter and have had another child for 7 days. “It simply came to our notice then. Losing interest, Sanjit cut off his wife and daughter’s neck with a sharp weapon. Saraswati died at the scene and the girl was taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition. He is thought to have survived an earlier attempt to oust him following Mr Jiang’s intervention. Upon receiving the news, the Bhubaneswar DCP and the police team reached the spot and started investigating the incident.
