
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee demanded to give Bharat Ratna to Amitabh Bachchan
Kolkata: The 28th Kolkata International Film Festival opened in Kolkata, West Bengal on Thursday. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee inaugurated the program and demanded to give Bharat Ratna to Amitabh Bachchan.
He said, “Not officially, but on behalf of Bengal, we have been demanding Bharat Ratna award to Amitabh Bachchan for his contribution to Indian cinema for a long time.” He further said, Bengal has always fought bravely for humanity, for unity in diversity, and this fight will continue in the future. Mamata said that West Bengal never bows down or begs. Former Indian cricket team captain Sourav Ganguly, actors Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Rani Mukherjee and many veteran actors and actresses participated in the programme.
