Jaipur: Indian voters are always shocked. Senior Congress leader and MP Shashi Tharoor said they would one day shock the BJP.

Tharoor’s remarks came in the wake of the recent Congress elections in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa, Punjab and Manipur. Thiruvananthapuram MP Tharoor said the number of voters in both the states was relatively low and was the main reason for the current situation (defeat of the Congress). In Uttar Pradesh, which is politically important, the party has managed to win only two of the 403 assembly seats, despite strong campaigning led by Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Bhadra. The Congress vote share was only 2.33 percent. In addition, most of the Congress party candidates lost their deposits.

“Priyanka Gandhi has made a remarkable and enthusiastic campaign for the Bhadra party, and in my view, the Congress cannot be blamed on anyone’s propaganda,” Tharoor said. The four-year-old leader has expressed surprise that political analysts have described the election results as “default”. “Until the exit polls, very few people have predicted the BJP’s victory,” he said. “Indian voters have the power to shock and one day they will shock the BJP,” he said. “Now they have given the BJP what it wants,” he said.
