Karnataka High Court Judge Rituraj Avasti has been threatened with death

From Bengaluru: Karnataka High Court judge Rituraj Avasti has been threatened with death after a verdict in the Hijab case. The miscreant threatened to kill by sending a video message on WhatsApp. So the judge filed a case at the police station. Police are investigating.

A High Court judge on March 15 upheld the state government’s decision on the hijab dispute. A new controversy erupted over the High Court’s ruling. Now the case has reached the Supreme Court. The petitioner has challenged the High Court’s decision in the Supreme Court. However, Advocate Umapati on Saturday lodged a complaint with the High Court Registrar General over the death threats. He is thought to have survived an earlier attempt to oust him following Mr Jiang’s intervention in a video posted on WhatsApp.

In the video message, a man openly threatens to kill Judge Rituraj Avasti. He also cited the assassination of a Jharkhand judge as a threat. “The judge is going to walk around,” he said. The video also shows the miscreant insulting Hizab Rai in vulgar language. The video was allegedly shot in Madurai, Tamil Nadu, said Advocate Umapati. According to the Times of India, Tamil Nadu police have arrested two people in connection with the killings of a Karnataka High Court judge. The accused, identified as Rahmatullah, was arrested from Tirunelveli, while Mohammad Usmani was arrested from Tanjbur.
