Sidhu Resigns as Punjab Congress President Know Why
New Delhi / Chandigarh: Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu on Wednesday resigned as the party’s Punjab state president. Sidhu tweeted announcing his resignation.
In the aftermath of the by-elections in five states, Congress president Sonia Gandhi has demanded that the party’s chief ministers be resigned. Shortly after Congress President Gandhi’s order, Uttarakhand Congress Committee Chairman Ganesh Godial and Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee Chairman Ajay Kumar Lallu resigned. In Punjab, the Congress lost to the Aam Aadmi Party and won only 18 seats. Sidhu himself lost the by-elections in Amritsar’s eastern constituency.
