Patna’s SASP told the media that as soon as the plane took off, one of its engines was seen emitting smoke. The plane then landed safely at the airport. All passengers on the plane are said to be safe. The cause of the fire was not immediately clear. An ambulance is deployed outside the airport, which can be treated immediately. Efforts are under way to contain the blaze. Additional fire trucks have also been called to the airport.
Patna DM Chandrashekhar Singh said the engine on its left side caught fire as soon as the Patna-Delhi flight took off. People in the Fulwari Sharif area immediately saw the smoke coming out of the plane and immediately called the district administration. The administration took immediate action and informed the airport administration. The plane then landed at Patna airport.
