Hyderabad: Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals were face to face in the 34th match of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. In this match played at Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Delhi defeated Hyderabad and won the second victory.

IPL has once again seen a thrilling contest in a low scoring match. Delhi scored 144 all out, but were beaten by Sunrisers Hyderabad by 7 runs thanks to an all-rounder performance from Akshar Patel and a superb bowling spell from the bowler. After losing five matches in a row, Delhi got its second win in a row. Due to the failure of the batsmen, Hyderabad had to face 5th defeat in 7 matches.

Both the teams are at the last two places of the points table. In the last over, Hyderabad needed 13 runs to win. But Mukesh Kumar bowled modestly and scored just 5 runs to give Delhi a resounding victory. Chasing the target of 145 runs set by Delhi, the Hyderabad team was reduced to 137 runs after losing 6 wickets. Akshar Patel from Delhi scored 34 runs in batting and took 2 wickets for 21 runs in 4 overs and became the hero of the team’s victory.

Batting first after winning the toss, Delhi Capitals scored 144 runs for 9 wickets in the stipulated overs. Manish Pandey and Akshar Patel scored 34 runs. Captain David Warner scored 21 runs and Mitchell Marsh scored 25 runs, although he could not play a big innings. Phillip Salt could not open the account. In bowling, Washington Sundar took 3 wickets for 28 runs while Bhuvneshwar Kumar took 2 wickets for only 11 runs.

Chasing the target of 145 runs, the Hyderabad batsmen batted slowly. Maya Agarwal scored the highest 49 runs. Harry Brook scored 7 runs and Rahul Tripathi returned to the pavilion after scoring 15 runs. Hyderabad came under pressure after the dismissal of Abhishek Sharma (5) and captain Adam Markram (3). Heinrich Klaasen, batting fast, scored 31 runs in 19 balls with the help of 3 fours and 1 six, but could not win the team. Hyderabad’s hopes of victory were dashed by his dismissal. Washington played a brilliant inning of 24 not out but could not save the team from defeat. Akshar Patel and Enrich Northje took 2-2 wickets for Delhi. Ishant Sharma and Kuldeep Jacob took one wicket each.
