New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the country’s first water metro on April 25 in Kochi, Kerala. This will ease the movement of the residents of the city, the official said. So let’s know 5 special things about water metro…
1- It is a much-awaited project that will provide a safe and comfortable travel experience to the people of Kochi. Water Metro will prove to be very helpful in increasing tourism in the state.
The 2-water metro will connect 10 islands around Kochi, called the port city. The two terminals are High Court Vipin and Vatila Kakkanad.
3- Ticket prices have been calculated keeping in mind the convenience of different categories of passengers. Its price ranges from Rs 20 to Rs 40. Travel passes are provided for regular passengers. Tickets cost Rs 180 for weekends, Rs 600 for monthly and Rs 1500 for three months. Tickets can be purchased from mobile QR code counters at the terminals.
4- Cochin Shipyard has built the Kochi Water Metro Project with a budget of Rs 1137 crore and with the help of German bank KfW.
5- This project will be started with eight electric hybrid boats.
